Mabuhay Gardens Restaurant, located in San Francisco, was a Filipino dining establishment that served as a vibrant platform for showcasing Filipino artists. During the dynamic decades of the 1970s and 1980s, Mabuhay Gardens Restaurant transformed into a pivotal hub for the burgeoning Bay Area Punk and New Wave music scenes, featuring renowned bands such as DEVO, The Dead Kennedys, The Germs, The Avengers, and the Go-Go’s.
Mabuhay Gardens Records is founded on showcasing Pinoy bands/artists intersecting with music sub-culture.
As a label founded by those who have their own bands, we owe everything to the many local music scenes where Asians intersect with the edgy, controversial, off-kilter, and innovative music sub-culture, and as a token of our appreciation, we intend to use this label as a tool to give back to the very music scenes that helped fuel our own musical ambitions.
